Explore the books!

Life Tales are gentle, trauma-informed stories for children who have experienced change, loss, or care — and for the adults walking beside them.

Who are the books for?

Life Tales are written for children — and intentionally designed to be read with safe adults.

For Children

  • Children living in foster care (foster, kinship, or residential care)

  • Children who have experienced separation, loss, trauma, or instability

  • Children who need to see themselves reflected with dignity and honesty

For Carers and Families

  • Foster and kinship carers

  • Parents and extended family members

  • Adults supporting children through transition or change

For Professionals

  • Therapists, counsellors, and caseworkers

  • Teachers and school wellbeing staff

  • Professionals working in child protection and trauma-informed care

Philosophy

A Different Kind of Story

  • Life Tales is designed to be read with children — not at them.

  • The stories are relational, not instructional.

  • They don’t explain children — they honour them.

  • These books open doors. Adults decide how far to walk through them with the child.
